Based
on the success of the Grass Valley Police Facility, the Gridley Police/Fire
Department decided to have their new facility produced by the Design/Build
method. This request also presented an interesting challenge. The site
was next door to the historical City Hall building, which the City wanted
to restore, connecting the second-story public chambers to the Police
Department, but doing the restoration at a later date due to budget
constraints. The new facility would have to blend in with the historical
City Hall, and also provide the anchor for the proposed revitalization
of Gridley's downtown area.
